Persons Impersonating FTC Officers

It has come to our attention that members of the public have been impersonating Officers of the Fair Trading Commission with a view to persuading the Managers of various Businesses/Companies to grant refunds or replacements in respect of items purchased.

The Commission warns that impersonation is a criminal offence and that if caught the perpetrators will be punished in accordance with the provisions of the law. We encourage persons to desist from this practice; and recommend that if in doubt, businesses seek to confirm with the FTC the authenticity of any instruction received, before acting on it.
