Susan Lawrence-Simms was appointed Senior Legal Counsel of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) in February 2021. As Senior Legal Counsel, her responsibilities include directing the legislative programmes of the Commission; informs regulations and amendments to the Fair Competition Act; review and determine legal issues; provide legal advice to the Commission and prepare and present cases before the Courts and Commissioners.
Susan has over nine years of legal experience in both the private and government sectors. Her areas of specialization include conveyance, succession, commercial law, maritime law, international law, and legislative drafting.
Susan holds a Master of Law in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Law Institute in Malta. A proud alumna of Norman Manley Law School and the University of the West Indies, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Psychology respectively.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and travelling.
