Merchant’s Seminar – Is the Pricing Right?

The Fair Trading Commission will be hosting a virtual Merchant’s Seminar, at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Miss Michelle Phillips, Legal Officer will present on the topic “Is the Pricing Right?”.

The Merchant’s Seminar aims to educate merchants on pricing practices and disclosure of information that may contravene sections of the Fair Competition Act (FCA). One of the responsibilities of the FTC is to ensure that the benefits of the competition process are unhindered by anti-competitive activity. To achieve this objective, the FTC relies on the FCA, which contains two broad categories of prohibitions – those dealing with anti-competitive practices and those dealing with consumer protection.

The audience will have the opportunity to make comments and pose questions to Ms. Phillips, and the seminar will be moderated by Mrs. Susan Lawrence-Simms, Senior Legal Counsel at the FTC.
